U.S. under Trump Series: Trump orders extreme vetting in response to Manhattan attack

In the wake of a terrorist attack in Manhattan, where an ISIS-linked Uzbek native who gained legal status in the United States in 2010 slammed a truck into the crowd killing at least 8 people and injuring 12 others, President Trump has ordered extreme vetting.

In response to the attack, President Trump tweeted, “In NYC, looks like another attack by a very sick and deranged person. Law enforcement is following this closely. NOT IN THE U.S.A.!... We must not allow ISIS to return, or enter, our country after defeating them in the Middle East and elsewhere. Enough!... My thoughts, condolences and prayers to the victims and families of the New York City terrorist attack. God and your country are with you!..... I have just ordered Homeland Security to step up our already Extreme Vetting Program. Being politically correct is fine, but not for this!”

According to the reporting in American news media, the terrorist suspect's identity has yet to be confirmed by police, but unconfirmed sources claim the suspect is 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov, who allegedly came in to the United States under the ‘Diversity Visa Program’ which aims to provide visas to people from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States.

President Trump, who has already intensified scrutiny of immigration applications from several countries including some Muslim majority ones like Iran, Sudan will surely put the above-mentioned program under the scanner.
