U.S. weekly initial jobless claims fall, insured jobless rate comes in at 1.2 pct

The seasonally adjusted U.S. initial jobless claims for the week ended 6 July dropped 13k to 209,000, showed the U.S. Department of Labor. The prior week’s claims was upwardly revised by 1000 to 222,000. The four-week moving average dropped 3,250 to 219,250 from the prior week’s revised reading of 222,500.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured jobless rate came in at 1.2 percent for the week ended 29 June, the same as previous week’s unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment in the week ended 29 June rose 27k to 1,723,000. The prior week’s level was upwardly revised to 1,696,000. The four-week moving average rose 5,750 to 1,694,750 from the previous week’s revised average of 1,689,000.

The highest insured jobless rates in the week ended 22 June were in Puerto Rico, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Alaska, California, Rhode Island and Illinois.
