REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., May 02, 2017 -- iPass Inc. (NASDAQ:IPAS), a leading provider of global mobile connectivity, today announced the release of a new version of United Group’s Unifi application, which is powered by the iPass SmartConnect™ Software Development Kit (SDK). Part of a three-year deal between iPass and United Group, the largest alternative telecom provider in the Balkans, the Unifi application will enable United Group subscribers to seamlessly access the iPass global Wi-Fi network, in addition to the company’s existing domestic hotspots.
United Group is the largest alternative pay TV platform in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, and FYR Macedonia. A total of 3.15 million revenue generating units in the region are subscribed to television, Internet, fixed and mobile telephony in households and offices through the company’s cable, DTH and OTT platforms. Further, United Group has more than 500,000 commercial and community Wi-Fi hotspots in the region.
“Wi-Fi is an important part of our service offering, so we are delighted to bring global access to our subscriber base through our Unifi application,” said Victoriya Boklag, Vice President of Marketing and Media at United Group. “The iPass SmartConnect SDK will allow us to quickly enhance our current Wi-Fi offering and enable us to bundle global Wi-Fi with our existing services. This is a significant value-add for customers, as well as a clear differentiator from our competition.”
“Providing global Wi-Fi is a fantastic way for telecommunications providers to attract new customers and improve the ‘stickiness’ of existing subscribers,” said Mato Petrusic, vice president EMEA & APAC at iPass. “Our partnership with United Group is a great example of how the iPass SDK can empower service providers to quickly realize the benefits of global Wi-Fi and offer something extra to today’s connected customer.”
