NEW YORK, May 07, 2018 -- Aspen Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:ASPU), a post-secondary education company, today announced that United States University (USU) has appointed Dr. Dianna Scherlin, DNP, MS, BS, RN as Dean of its burgeoning College of Nursing.
“Dr. Scherlin’s 35-year career as a nurse-practitioner and nurse-educator has provided her with the deep knowledge necessary to guide USU’s undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Dr. Scherlin understands the importance of providing the nursing community with a high quality, high value, and affordable educational alternative. We are delighted to welcome her to USU,” said President Steven Stargardter.
“I look forward to beginning our work with Dr. Scherlin in monitoring the educational quality embedded in our existing curriculum while at the same time creating new nursing and health science programs, maintaining the level of excellence observed by the recent visiting CCNE team, and working continually on curricular integration and faculty development. Her experience has been noted for its vision and integrity. All of us are eager to welcome her to the USU community,” added Provost Jennifer Newmann.
Dr. Dianna Scherlin:
Dr. Dianna Scherlin has amassed a record of successful educational administration and leadership built upon a solid foundation of experience and teaching. Her background consists of leadership and senior academic management in higher education at the level of dean, provost, and corporate and national director. She has been recognized for her skills in founding new programs, leadership in the fields of nursing and health sciences, comprehensive knowledge of accreditation and regulatory trends and requirements, the cultivation of student-centered learning environments, and establishing programs for faculty development and support. Dr. Scherlin, in addition to her national consulting ventures, has spent the past 10 years in a variety of leadership capacities at two universities in California. Most recently she served as Provost and Dean of Nursing & Health Sciences at the American University of Health Science (2010 – 2017). Previously she held the position of Dean of Nursing at West Coast University (2008 – 2010). She holds her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the Western University of Health Sciences.
