Venturing onto foreign lands might be exciting but it’s also dangerous if you don’t know the laws of the place you’re going to. For that very reason, we are providing you with some useful tips that should help you stay out of trouble, at least from a legal perspective, for the duration of your vacation or visit, no matter its purpose. Let’s begin by looking at our first tip:
Driving documents
Just because you are going into a new country doesn’t mean that you don’t have to be responsible for your vehicle. If you are taking your car, you need to be able to produce a driver’s license and even the car insurance papers. Not having these on your person when asked for them might lead to some legal complications. It is in the best interest of all involved parties that you have these documents with you at all times. They will prevent either side from being wronged in the eventuality of an unfortunate accident.
Stay away from alcohol
If you are going on a vacation, you are probably going to want to taste the local alcohol options. That’s quite understandable and it sure would be a shame not to taste what might be some of the finest drinks you’ve ever tasted. However, keep in mind that this comes with some risks, and if you’re not there to party or to relax, you should stay away from alcohol completely. Some countries have pretty strange or uncommon laws regarding alcohol, from the age that you’re allowed to legally drink to who’s actually allowed to based on other criteria. The best way to stay safe is to stay away from it completely, especially if you’re on a business trip for example.
Research ahead of time
This might seem like a no brainer but you might be surprised of how many people actually travel to another country without knowing a single thing about it. Just as you would research your esta visa usa before embarking onto a trip to the U.S., so too should you research your current destination and see what kind of laws are more demanding than others.
Ensure you are allowed to carry pets
Some countries are against you bringing your beloved animal companion along for the trip. They have their reasons and that’s not what should concern you. What should however concern you is whether or not you are about to go with your dog or cat on such a trip. If you are planning on bringing your pet along, make sure they are actually allowed on the other end of that flight, because otherwise it would make for a very messy and complicated landing. After a tiring flight or boat ride, the last thing you want to be told is that you have to either turn around and start your way towards home, or give up your companion.
Make sure you car is eligible for foreign roads
Before a car can legally be used on a country’s roads, it must pass verification. Cars that are sold on the market and are unchanged receive this verification right off the production line. However, different countries might have different laws on the matter. Make sure that any custom mods on your car or even factory details aren’t in contradiction with the laws of the country you are trying to get into.
