Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang has called for a bank member and transaction activity in November at Ho Chi Minh City’s Vietnam International Financial Center, a step toward fuller operations, VnExpress reported.
Thang made the appeal during a meeting with members and prospective investors at the 2026 Autumn Economic Forum on Wednesday, Oct. 28. VnExpress reported that he also urged government agencies to advance the center’s legal framework, licensing work and operating conditions.
“We should strive to have actual transactions and a bank member in November, gradually moving VIFC-HCMC toward substantive operations,” Thang said.
VIFC-HCMC began its initial operational phase Feb. 11 under a unified framework for financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang established by National Assembly Resolution 222/2025/QH15, which took effect Sept. 1, 2025, EconoTimes previously reported. EconoTimes also covered the center’s first 10 members.
