"Vikings" Season 5 was divided into two parts and the first one, with 10 episodes, aired until Jan. 24. It ended with a cliffhanger that showed Rollo sailing back to his family home in Kattegat.
It seemed that as he is aging already, he decided to just embrace his royal duties back home. Then again, his return is a little mysterious too, because based on the trailer that was unveiled during the San Diego Comic-Con in July, it is possible that he is coming back with a hidden agenda.
Rollo Sigurdsson (Clive Standen) has a number of unresolved issues, especially with Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and his younger brother, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), and perhaps, his return has something to do with these?
What to Expect
When “Vikings” season 5 returns, the producers teased that there will be lots of action as the division between Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) and his brother, Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig), deepens. Rollo’s return will add tension in Kattegat since he is still furious about Ivar becoming the king.
The highlight of the new “Vikings” season 5 trailer was the developing allegiances due to Ivar’s ruthless ruling. Hvitserk (Marco Ilso) for one will turn his back on his brother Ivar and team up with Bjorn so he can be dethroned. They will work with Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) and Lagertha, who remains positive that she will get her leadership back.
Plot Twist and Prediction
Express reported that Lagertha’s time in “Vikings” is up. She is a key figure in the drama but she could be dying soon. Her death may come in “Vikings” season 5 because the actress playing her character is set to star on a new show on Netflix. Fans predicted that Lagertha might die in “Vikings” due to old age, at 110 years old.
As per Deadline, Katheryn Winnick has been cast for the crime drama titled “Wu Assassins.” She will be acting as Christine “C.G.” Gavin, an undercover police agent who finds herself in the middle of a gang war. The new Netflix drama is set to air in 2019.
Air Date
“Vikings” season 5 is airing on Nov. 28 via History channel, as per Metro. For viewers in the U.K., it will premiere on Nov. 29 on Amazon Prime. The finale is expected to air on Jan. 30, 2019, after 10 episodes.
