It seems that “Vikings” season 5 will see a major character getting killed off. While it’s still uncertainty at this point and pretty much every fan of the series is speculating, one ominous announcement is suggesting a bad ending for Floki.
The cast of the History Channel’s historical drama is reportedly coming back to the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) this year. The series will be represented by the usual panelists from the show, as Katheryn Winnick, Alex Høgh Andersen, and Alexander Ludwig will be in attendance, Korea Portal reported.
Additionally, creator Michael Hirst is also set to sit with the cast. One notable absence, however, has had fans dreading “Vikings” season 5. Actor Gustaf Skarsgård, who plays Floki in the series, is reportedly opting out of the event, leading people to assume that his character might have been killed off.
It can be recalled that when the characters of George Blagden and Jessalyn Gilsig died, the actors no longer attended the San Diego Comic-Con. Of course, when Travis Fimmel’s character Ragnar Lothbrok met a similar fate, the actor still attended the event wearing a kangaroo outfit.
Will Skarsgård do the same this year, perhaps? One can only speculate at the moment.
The "Vikings" cast member will be presented at the event on Friday, July 20. They have been given a Ballroom 20 panel starting from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Notably, that the room allocated for the cast is rather large, indicating that the panelist is to meet up with a large number of fans.
Apart from the abovementioned castmembers who will be attending, two more will be included for the show’s panel. Clive Standen, who’s playing Rollo, will be back since appearing at the 2016 SDCC. And for the first time, Georgia Hirst, the actress playing Bjorn's ex-wife, Torvi, is also slated to appear.
As for Skarsgård, it’s still unclear why the actor will be absent from this year’s SDCC since he had been present at the convention for four years in a row. Speculations revolve around the actor's busy schedule as his new movie, "438 Days," might still be filming.
But some are convinced that Floki is going to get the axe given that the shipwright has already decided to sacrifice himself for his new colony. The “Vikings” season 5 release date has yet to be announced, but it’s likely that it will be revealed at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con 2018.
