It’s painful for fans to see let go of Lagertha, one of the most popular characters in the series. But “Vikings” Season 6 Episode 8 should be an installment to look forward to for the character’s fans as the episode will be directed by Lagertha actress Katheryn Winnick.
“Vikings” Season 6 episode 8 is expected to show the aftermath of Lagertha’s death. In the previous episode titled “The Ice Maiden” Lagerta was killed by Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) because the latter was hallucinating that he was facing either Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) or a snake demon, as reported by Forbes.
Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) swore to avenge Lagertha during the eulogy he gave at the funeral. Now, the biggest question fans have at the moment is whether or not Bjorn finds out in “Viking” Season 6 Episode 8 that it was Hvitserk who killed Lagertha.
There are those who think that it is still possible for Bjorn to forgive Hvitserk, should he eventually learn of the truth, considering that the latter was not in the right frame of mind when he did the deed. “It will be interesting to see if Bjorn ends up sparing Hvitserk since he did not intentionally kill Lagertha,” Cinema Blend wrote.
“Hvitserk was under the influence and mistakenly thought she was Ivar,” the publication added. “Will those circumstances be enough to sway Bjorn? It seems plausible.”
Meanwhile, fans were satisfied with how the show bid farewell to their beloved character. “What an ending to that episode and Lagertha’s life. Very well done,” a Reddit user commented, CheatSheet reported.
“Lagertha’s funeral was so emotional and beautiful …a cinematic piece of a beautiful but sad painting,” a Viking fan of the character’s epic funeral. “t was art …real cinematographic art …Vikings in all its tragic glory.”
While Lagertha might be gone, Winnick will be making her directorial debut in the upcoming “Vikings” Season 6 Episode 8 titled “Valhalla Can Wait.” The synopsis of the upcoming installment teases what’s up ahead, which can be read below.
“Bjorn faces a difficult decision," the synopsis reads. "Ubbe and Torvi leave Kattegat in search of new lands and perhaps old friends; Oleg’s plans for the invasion of Scandinavia take shape; King Harald is baffled by the origin of a mysterious raiding party.”
