“Vinland Saga” episode 13 marks the beginning of the second cour, and it will start on an exciting note. Anime fans can expect the absence of a vicious fight, but that is appropriately replaced by the display of cunning Askeladd can be. Another highlight of the episode likely happens between Thorfinn and Prince Canute.
‘Vinland Saga’ episode 13 spoilers: Who is Askeladd’s mighty ancestor?
In the manga chapters where “Vinland Saga” episode 13 is based, Bjorn recalls how secretive Askeladd can be. The subject comes up when Askeladd’s men are surprised that he understands and speaks Welsh, although, they will not learn why or how at this point.
As planned, Askeladd wants to avoid Thorkell’s men and does so by marching across Wales. They will be passing the border of Brycheiniog. The last scene in episode 12 showed an ambush with a slew of arrows hitting Askeladd’s horse. The leader of the attackers is Lord Asser, who Askeladd will be negotiating with in “Vinland Saga” episode 13.
Askeladd needs to convince Asser by revealing that he plans to become a high-ranking confidant of Prince Canute. He assures loyalty to the Welsh because, as he will reveal in “Vinland Saga” episode 13, Askeladd is half-Welsh and half-Nordic. It will be revealed that, through the bloodline of her mother Lydia, Askeladd is a true descendant of the Welsh ancient hero Artorius.
“Vinland Saga” episode 13 highlights, release date: Prince Canute finally talks
It is not Askeladd’s first option to reveal everything to Asser because he is first counting on Canute to say some fearsome taunts to intimidate the men of Brycheiniog. But Canute remains very timid to the point of running and hiding behind Ragnar again. This scene just gives Thorfinn more reason to badger and belittle Canute in “Vinland Saga” episode 13.
While passing through Brycheiniog where Askeladd’s men should pretend as prisoners, Canute will suddenly talk back to Thorfinn. This surprises Ragnar but also makes him glad that the soft-looking prince is finally talking to someone else. Canute will explain in “Vinland Saga” episode 13 that he is not speaking because he is afraid, but because he is aware that every word he says bear political weight being the next King of Denmark.
Anime fans are happy that there will not be a long hiatus before the second cour of this anime series begins. “Vinland Saga” episode 13 will be released on Sunday, Oct. 6 and can also be watched through Amazon Prime Video.
