MALVERN, Pa., Sept. 05, 2017 -- Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE:VSH) today announced that its custom magnetics manufacturing facility in Zhuhai, China, has earned ISO/TS 16949 certification, the industry standard for quality management and production in the automotive industry.
A globally recognized specification for automotive quality management systems, ISO/TS 16949 requires suppliers to meet rigorous quality standards for automotive-related product design, development, production, installation, and servicing. Certified suppliers must demonstrate commitment to continual improvement, defect prevention, and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.
Located near Macau, Vishay’s Zhuhai facility is the company’s fifth inductor / transformer plant to achieve ISO/TS 16949 certification. The site is part of Vishay’s Inductors Division, which has been manufacturing Automotive Grade inductors and custom magnetics since 2002, significantly bolstering the company’s ability to supply these components throughout Asia, Europe, and North America.
In addition to ISO/TS 16949, the Zhuhai facility is already certified to ISO-9001, ISO-13485, AS9100, IS0-14001, and OHSAS-18001, demonstrating Vishay’s commitment to providing custom magnetics to the medical, industrial, aerospace, and automotive markets, which demand high quality and high reliability performance.
