SAN DIEGO, March 22, 2017 -- Vital Therapies, Inc. (Nasdaq:VTL), a biotherapeutic company developing ELAD®, a cell-based therapy targeting the treatment of acute forms of liver failure, today announced the pricing of an underwritten public offering of 8,750,000 newly issued shares of its common stock at a price to the public of $4.00 per share for gross proceeds of approximately $35.0 million. All of the shares are being sold by Vital Therapies. The offering is expected to close on or about March 27, 2017, subject to customary closing conditions. In addition, Vital Therapies has also granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 1,312,500 shares of its common stock at the public offering price, less the underwriting discounts and commissions.
Vital Therapies currently plans to use the net proceeds from this offering for the continuing clinical development of the ELAD System, working capital and other general corporate purposes.
