Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, and WTW Associates – based in New York – will now be part of Buffkin / Baker’s entertainment/media practice.
“We have greatly enhanced our entertainment/media practice this year, and are excited to have Warren Wasp and WTW join our team,” said Craig Buffkin, managing partner of Buffkin / Baker. “Earlier this year, we brought on MusicRowSearch, an entertainment search firm in Nashville, which also pioneered WHO KNEW, the popular networking and speaker series, and are eager to have Warren join the firm to lead the efforts. Warren is one of the visionary media and entertainment search executives in the industry.”
WTW Associates will integrate its operations into the Buffkin / Baker New York office.
“This is a great opportunity to join a thriving search firm that is positioning itself for future growth in the media, entertainment and tech industries,” said Warren Wasp, who will serve as a partner in the firm, and head the entertainment/media practice. “I was seeking a dynamic firm to help expand our business, and with the growth in Buffkin / Baker’s entertainment division, this was the perfect opportunity to leverage our synergies.”
Wasp – who has extensive contacts in the entertainment and media industry in New York, Los Angeles and London – founded WTW Associates in 1987, and serves as its president. He was previously chairman of IIC Partners, Executive Search Worldwide and served on the board of the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC).
Prior to forming WTW Associates, Wasp was a senior executive at Warner Communications, Inc. where he was responsible for the human resources and administration functions. In this capacity, he directed all corporate and divisional activities related to compensation and benefits, staffing, organization planning, employee relations and affirmative action.
Wasp was also a principal with Ernst & Young’s consulting practice in the New York metropolitan office.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Bridgeport, and served as a captain in the United States Marine Corps.
