The highly anticipated Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) starts Monday, June 4 and several reports have speculations on what Apple has and has not lined up to unveil during the five-day affair.
WWDC is one of Apple’s annual events and has regularly been the time for Apple fans and developers to witness the upcoming programs and offerings from the Cupertino, California tech giant.
While major updates to Apple’s software like iOS and macOS are likely to be announced this week, there are several speculations that suggest the company might also have several hardware products to announce.
According to reports, Apple could be gearing up to reveal an update to the MacBook Pro lineup. Several signs seem to back the speculation, including a benchmark result on Geekbench for a product labeled “MacBookPro14,3.” The name of the tested hardware led observers to suspect that it is referring to an all-new MacBook Pro model that measures 14.3 inches.
According to the same Geekbench listing, the MacBook Pro laptop will arrive with macOS 10.13.4 and will sport a hefty 32GB DDR4 RAM. Meanwhile, it is powered by an Intel Core i7-8750H processor with a topology of 6 cores and 12 threads.
It is important to note, though, that Apple is unlikely to make major announcements about the MacBook Pro lineup, at least based on the manner of its laptop releases in the past couple of years. So there is also a big chance that the spotted Geekbench listing is meant for a new MacBook Pro to be revealed sometime in the fall.
Meanwhile, if there is a chance for Apple to reveal a new MacBook Pro, Forbes contributor Ewan Spence expects that the company is likely to make any remarkable announcement related to the MacBook Air. WWDC could be one of the best times for Apple to excite its customers again about its entry-level laptop line, but Spence suggests that Apple is likely to leave the MacBook Air out of the picture again.
WWDC 2018 happens from June 4 through 8 in San Jose, California.
