Western Digital's fiscal 2027 second-quarter outlook calls for 66% to 72% year-over-year revenue growth, above the first-quarter increase, as the company also raises its dividend.
Revenue was $4.381 billion for the quarter ended Oct. 2, 2026. Western Digital filed its earnings release with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Oct. 22 as part of a Form 8-K. The filing lists Item 2.02, Results of Operations and Financial Condition, and Item 9.01, Financial Statements and Exhibits.
Net income totaled $1.779 billion, compared with $1.182 billion a year earlier. GAAP diluted earnings per share were $4.63, up from $3.07, while GAAP gross margin was 57.8%, compared with 43.5%. On a non-GAAP basis, first-quarter gross margin was 58.1% and diluted earnings per share were $4.64.
The company credited robust customer demand and disciplined execution for the quarter. Chief Financial Officer Kris Sennesael pointed to robust exabyte growth and better pricing as factors in the quarter's results.
For fiscal 2027's second quarter, Western Digital forecast revenue of about $5.1 billion, with a range of $100 million above or below that amount. The company said that outlook represents year-over-year growth of 66% to 72%. It projected a non-GAAP gross margin of 60% to 61% and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $5.80, plus or minus 20 cents.
The board declared a quarterly cash dividend of 17.5 cents per share, a 17% increase. The company said its chief executive linked the increase to confidence in the business and a commitment to return capital to shareholders. Shareholders of record at the close of business Dec. 4 are scheduled to receive payment Dec. 17.
