With drone use becoming a rising market all over the world, it’s only natural that drone-makers would be coming out with all kinds of special gimmicks to make their own designs stand out. In the case of George Matus, the defining feature of his drone is very simple; it’s the fastest one in the commercial market.
Tech Crunch reports that Matus has been in the drone-designing game since he was 11 years of age. He developed the “Teal” when he was 18, and hitting tops speeds of over 85Mph, it is currently the fastest commercial drone in the market.
Drone racing is one of the fastest-growing recreational activities involving the flying UAVs right now. As would be expected, speed is going to be a pretty important aspect, and Matus wants to be the best one at giving users this winning feature.
Upon unboxing and assembling, users of the “Teal” would be able to use some of the basic functions of the drone right away. One of these functions is the “follow-me” mode, where the drone will follow the user wherever they go and whether they are on foot or in a vehicle.
The drone can also race with another “Teal” model in a preset race track and using a Neurala-based image-recognition technology. In terms of the basic flight mode, users can expect some advanced interactive features that will allow them to freely use the drone as they want.
For anyone wondering, other drones like the “DJI Phantom 4” can achieve speeds that are only half what the “Teal” can do, according to Wired. This gives the owners of “Teal” a significant advantage over other racers if they are not using the same models.
However, with its capabilities include 4K video capture, can live stream with 720p, and can take photos at 13MP, the “Teal” is more than just a racing drone. More than that, Matus and his team want to make the “Teal” modular so that users can customize it to suit their needs.
