Anyone who looks into Windows 10 updates these past few days will know that Microsoft has been diving deep into the Linux games by adding destros one after another. Users who want to take the latest one called Arch Linux can simply visit the Microsoft Store to take a look at what it is all about. There was also a recent patch where certain security threats have been addressed.
For anyone not familiar with destros, Arch Linux is known for being one of the more complex options in the lineup, TechRadar reports. It’s basically infamous for being quite the anti-user platform that is not only difficult to use but is actually also quite hard to set up. Suffice it to say, anyone who wants to use Linux destros will want to avoid this one if they are new to it. It’s certainly not the time to be experimental with Windows 10.
It’s worth noting that this is simply an option that is now available over at the Microsoft Store for Windows 10. It is not officially supported by the company, but it isn’t exactly something that it is prohibiting, either. As such, anyone who wants to use these platforms cannot expect official tech support from the tech giant if anything goes wrong.
On that note, Microsoft will provide extensive support for any Windows 10 patches that comes their way, and a recent one has just made it to the market. Among the things that users can expect from it are as detailed below by MSPowerUser.
“Provides protections against a new subclass of speculative execution side-channel vulnerabilities, known as Microarchitectural Data Sampling, for 64-Bit (x64) versions of Windows. Use the registry settings as described in the Windows Client and Windows Server articles,” the update reads.
“Addresses an issue that decreases Internet Explorer’s performance when you use roaming profiles, or you don’t use the Microsoft Compatibility List.”
