LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Sept. 20, 2016 -- Windstream (NASDAQ:WIN), a leading provider of advanced network communications, today announced its platinum level sponsorship of the New Jersey Fiber Exchange (NJFX) “Tier 3 by the Subsea Phase II Launch” on Sept. 21. The event will be held at NJFX’s brand new data center in Wall Township, N.J. – the first Tier 3 carrier-neutral colocation facility intersecting the landing point of subsea cables from around the globe.
In January of 2016 – as part of its aggressive strategy to expand its high-speed, highly available 125,000 mile nationwide fiber network – Windstream announced the deployment of the first direct connection between its Ashburn, Va., Point-of-Presence (PoP) and NJFX’s Meet-Me Room at the Tata Communications’ Cable Landing Station (CLS). As large-scale enterprise organizations and wholesale customers – including other carriers, as well as content providers, cable and other network operators – continue to drive the surging demand for direct, secure connectivity to cloud resources, Windstream’s alliance with NJFX provides connectivity options that meet the needs of both domestic and international customers.
“Windstream is honored to participate in the NJFX launch event as a platinum sponsor,” said Mike Crimmins, vice president of international sales for Windstream’s wholesale business unit. “We place high value in our relationship with NJFX, and its industry-leading facility – as a prime meeting hub for subsea cables connecting three continents – is a perfect opportunity for NJFX customers to access Windstream’s reliable, low-latency solutions and our nationwide, long-haul network.”
The event will bring industry leaders from across the globe together at the Wall Township facility, celebrating direct, global connectivity and the power of speed. Represented industry segments include: organizations interested in an alternative to the congested peering landscape in New York City, Over the Top (OTT) content providers, multinational enterprises, regional Internet service providers (ISPs), eight independent U.S. fiber-based and global carriers and dark fiber network providers. Attendees will be among the first to tour the brand new, 64,800 square-foot, Tier 3 data center.
“The NJFX Campus is quite unique, as it is the very first Tier 3 colocation facility to intersect where subsea landing cables from around the globe meet,” added Gil Santaliz, founder and chief executive officer of NJFX. “As we celebrate the launch of our state-of-the-art data center, we are proud to have partners like Windstream by our side to provide optimal connectivity options to an array of customers with various needs.”
