A third-party developer is working on a wireless version of controllers for the NES Classic Edition that’s coming out soon, which fixes one of the biggest problems with the default package. It turns out that the wires for the controller included is too short, which is a huge problem for modern gamers. Once the alternatives come out, this will no longer be a problem.
The NES Classic Edition is Nintendo’s way of tapping into the nostalgia that older players feel for classic games. It offers a great way to experience titles like “Super Mario Bros.” in a simple and hassle-free manner. Unfortunately, it comes with a 31-inch wired controller, Digital Trends reports.
One company called Nyko has the solution in the form of their Miniboss wireless controller. The controller mimics the basic design inspired by the NES and has a reliable range of up to 30 feet. It will cost players $20 to get, but a few details are still missing, including the battery life of the controller.
Those interested can pre-order the controller now or wait until November 11th when it becomes available. For those who want a more authentic NES gaming experience but think that 31 inches are too short, Nyko is also offering extension cords that add six feet of cable for $10.
Back in the good old days when home gaming computers like the Nintendo Entertainment System came out, wired controllers were the norm. Once wireless peripherals became more mainstream, however, contending with cables has become a lot more frustrating. That’s why playing older games with older systems can be annoying, The Verge notes.
Nyko’s offer presents a way to soak in the nostalgia that jumping on mushrooms in an 8-bit world can provide without annoying cables ruining the immersion. It’s a great solution for anyone who is eagerly for the mini console and all the classic games that come with it.
