Blizzard Entertainment is all set for its next virtual event, where the studio will unveil the upcoming expansion for “World of Warcraft.” A week before the showcase, the developer announced more details about the event to inform fans when and where they could tune in for the highly anticipated announcement.
The “World of Warcraft” virtual showcase was announced last month. Blizzard immediately confirmed that the event, which will take place on Tuesday, April 19, is where it will reveal the next expansion for the game. Now, just a week before the presentation, Blizzard said the online event would start at 9:00 a.m. PDT / 18:00 CEST, and fans can watch through YouTube and Twitch.
“From the hopeless depths of the Maw to the ethereal plains of Zereth Mortis, the Shadowlands delivers a world that challenges heroes to confront the forces that threaten to upset the cosmic balance between life and death,” Blizzard said in the announcement post. “With the story in the Shadowlands coming to a conclusion, the time is at hand to get a sneak peek at what’s next for the heroes of Azeroth.”
The conclusion to the current “World of Warcraft” expansion titled “Shadowlands” was released in February through patch 9.2 called Eternity’s End. It added the new raid, The Sepulcher of the First Ones, where players will have to face Zovaal the Jailer as the final boss. The end of the “Shadowlands” plot does not give away much about what will happen next to the game’s story, giving more reasons for fans to tune in to the reveal event next week.
However, some crucial details may have been unearthed already, thanks to information found from the official “World of Warcraft” website’s source code. Wowhead recently discovered that an update to the site has added references to pre-purchase pages to an unannounced content called “Dragonflight” that would be available in Base, Heroic, and Epic packages -- the same editions offered for previous expansions. It remains to be seen if Dragonflight is going to be the official title for the next “World of Warcraft” expansion.
