“Wreck-It Ralph 3” is now on the minds of a lot of fans who might have already seen “Wreck-It Ralph 2” and absolutely loved the movie. Unfortunately, it would appear that the third installment to the franchise is never going to come, as confirmed by the directors of the movie. No matter how much money the film makes, “Wreck-It Ralph 3” is unlikely to ever be made.
The directors of “Wreck-It Ralph 2” are Phil Johnston and Rich Moore, and according to them, “Wreck-It Ralph 3” is unlikely to ever happen simply because the story has already been wrapped up. To unravel that again out of simple greed would not only be a disservice to the fans who have invested their emotions into the movie but would also betray the characters.
"I mean, I don't know because I feel good about where they're at," Johnston explained to Comic Book. "I mean you could envision like plot things where something gets screwed up and they have to reconnect to fix it. But in terms of it being a story of maturation for Ralph (John C. Reilly)? Like he's really, like John Reilly said in the press conference. The internet represents the sort of adult phase of their life. And I think Ralph at the end, has matured where he is comfortable in his skin and he will make friends and he and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) will still hang out. And Vanellope is just coming of age, she's just finding that thing that makes her passionate, and I don't know."
Of course, in Hollywood, nothing is ever set in stone. After all, it isn’t as if greedy producers are above touching properties that many fans consider sacred and absolutely butchering it in the attempt. The same could be said about “Wreck-It Ralph 3.” Fans can only hope that if it is ever made, it will be done by those who actually love the movies.
