Charlotte, Dec. 19, 2016 -- CHARLOTTE, NC – (December 19, 2016) – Today, XOOM Energy, LLC, an energy retailer providing natural gas and electric services throughout North America, announced a new relationship with PetSmart Charities, the largest funder of animal welfare in North America. XOOM Energy launched the 5 Saves Lives campaign – its first-ever animal welfare initiative – to support PetSmart Charities in its mission to find lifelong, loving homes for all pets by supporting programs that bring people and pets together.
As part of the 5 Saves Lives campaign, XOOM Energy is now offering a product to its customers, in all XOOM Energy U.S. markets, called RescueLock 12. This product allows customers to secure a fixed rate plan for 12 full months, protecting them from the uncertainty that they’ve come to expect with energy bills. When a customer enrolls on RescueLock 12, five percent of each customer’s monthly XOOM Energy charges will be donated to PetSmart Charities.
“XOOM Energy is thrilled to partner with a non-profit organization like PetSmart Charities, who have more than 20 years of experience in animal welfare. With RescueLock 12, our customers can lock in a stable 12 month fixed rate while supporting a great cause.” states Chris Phillips, Chief Operating Officer at XOOM Energy.
“The 5 Saves Lives Campaign is a true testament to XOOM Energy’s passion for and commitment to helping pets in need across the U.S.,” said David Haworth DVM, PhD, president of PetSmart Charities. “It is with the support of companies, like XOOM Energy, that we are able to continue working with animal welfare organizations and nonprofits nationwide to help pets in need, end pet homelessness and connect people and pets.”
PetSmart Charities grants more money to directly help pets in need than any other animal welfare group in North America and has donated more than $300 million since 1994. Each donation made to PetSmart Charities helps fund initiatives such as adoptions at PetSmart stores and other locations, rescue programs, spay and neuter surgeries, emergency relief, and service animal and pet therapy training programs. This is the first time the organization has worked with an energy company to generate donations.
