The XRP Ledger (XRPL) recorded a massive surge in on-chain activity on October 19, 2026, as daily transfer volume climbed to $49.66 billion amid renewed buying pressure and growing institutional interest in Ripple's blockchain ecosystem.

According to crypto analyst Ali Charts, citing Santiment data, the spike occurred as XRP briefly dropped to $1.26 before recovering to $1.3068, marking a 0.68% gain. Strong spot market demand reportedly absorbed selling pressure, helping the cryptocurrency maintain a 3% market share.

Meanwhile, futures liquidations totaled just $5.75 million, suggesting that the XRP price recovery was primarily driven by spot trading rather than leveraged positions.

Despite the rebound, market indicators reveal conflicting signals. XRP exchange reserves recently reached 11.81 billion tokens, raising concerns about potential selling pressure.

However, derivatives traders appear increasingly optimistic. Call options volume is reportedly twice that of put options, indicating stronger bullish positioning.

Technical analysis also suggests a potential breakout. An inverse head-and-shoulders pattern forming on XRP's three-day chart points toward a possible rally to $1.80–$2.00, provided the cryptocurrency breaks above the key $1.56 resistance level.

Institutional adoption remains another major catalyst for XRP. Ripple Prime's reported involvement in a Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) tokenization initiative has attracted attention, particularly given DTCC's approximately $114 trillion in custodial assets.

Data from RWA.xyz shows that represented real-world assets on the XRP Ledger have reached $4.47 billion, while distributed RWA value stands at $496.62 million.

Additionally, XRPL's 30-day RWA transfer volume surged 1,458% to $7.03 billion. Stablecoin transfers reached $6.27 billion, supported by a stablecoin market capitalization of approximately $1.06 billion.

Investors are also monitoring a scheduled XRP Ledger network upgrade on Friday, October 23. The bug-fix update is expected to support a proposed cross-border lending protocol, which reportedly requires 10 additional validator votes out of 29 for activation.

Looking further ahead, Standard Chartered reportedly maintains a bullish XRP price target of $28 by 2030, while Switzerland continues attracting cryptocurrency investors through its favorable capital gains tax treatment.

With rising on-chain activity, expanding tokenization adoption and a potential technical breakout, XRP traders are closely watching whether buying momentum can overcome elevated exchange reserves and push prices toward higher resistance levels.
