The governor of Yemen's Shabwa province raised the reported death toll from a missile attack on a security training camp to 73, with 14 people missing amid renewed fighting.

Shabwa's local authority initially reported 53 deaths from the Monday, Oct. 19, strike and said more than 200 people were injured. It blamed the Houthis. The governor issued the higher toll on Oct. 20.

The local authority said three ballistic missiles hit the center during an exercise for new internal security recruits. The Guardian reported that most of the wounded were young recruits and identified the camp as al-Alam.

The Houthis have acknowledged targeting the government camp. Yemen's internationally recognized government described the attack as a disaster. The government, which is backed by a Saudi-led coalition, and the Houthis have exchanged attacks amid renewed fighting.

The Guardian reported that an inquiry into the strike is expected.
