Zhao estimated a roughly $2 billion Binance theft-related shortfall and said an SPCX position valued above $1 billion could offset most of it. Yi He separately said annual revenue would allow Binance to absorb losses while keeping its SpaceX holding.

Zhao tied the shortfall to funds stolen from Binance.

Revenue is earned over a year, while selling shares turns an existing holding into cash. The statements address two distinct points: Binance’s ability to absorb losses and an asset Zhao said could offset the estimate.

Binance’s separate commitment to cover losses through its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) and company funds is detailed in earlier EconoTimes coverage. Zhao did not describe the holding as part of that pledge.
