Attacks on energy infrastructure disrupted electricity across Ukraine’s Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, leaving nearly 250,000 customers and more than 600,000 residents without power, officials and DTEK said.
DTEK, a Ukrainian energy company, said an overnight attack damaged energy facilities in Dnipropetrovsk region. It reported that more than 600,000 residents lost power and said repeated attacks were making restoration more difficult.
Zlatopil Mayor Mykola Baksheyev said on social media that a Russian drone struck a critical infrastructure site in Kharkiv region. Nearly 250,000 customers there lost electricity, he said. Baksheyev said repairs were under way, but the time for power to return was not yet known.
Ukraine’s energy ministry said an attack a day earlier left people without electricity in five regions and disrupted power transmission in Kyiv. EconoTimes previously reported outages across eight regions on Nov. 1, including nearly 100,000 consumers without power in Dnipropetrovsk region.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia was using attacks to increase pressure on Kyiv before trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi, which the United States is mediating and which are scheduled for Nov. 10 and 11.
