Hillary Clinton recently weighed in on one of the biggest sources of conflicts in this and age. She said GIF with a hard “G,” which means that she officially chose a side in a war that has divided the internet for ages. The pronouncement was made during a speech by Clinton where she said that listening to her opponent talk is enough to make her want to look at cat “GIFs.”
Clinton’s speech was made during a fundraiser in San Francisco, New York Magazine reports. Prior to her talk about the “GIF” thing, she was discussing how Trump seems to be attacking everybody and everything at this point, which makes his speeches difficult to listen to.
“There’s hardly any part of America that he has not targeted,” she said. “It makes you want to turn off the news. It makes you want to unplug the internet or just look at cat GIFs.”
Cat “GIFs” are of course some of the most popular forms of entertainment online, ranging from funny to downright frightening. Regardless, they do present a nice way to de-stress from the day’s events, which apparently includes listening to Donald Trump talk, based on how Clinton put it.
As The Verge reports, the pronouncement of “GIF” has been a major flashpoint among internet users for years. Some pronounce it with a hard “G” such as “gift” and some like to say it with a soft “G” like one would say “Jam.”
It’s worth noting that the creator of the “GIF” likes to say the word with the soft pronunciation, but the majority of folks have generally decided that the other way of saying it is the right way. So, that’s another point of conflict that users are contending with. This may just be one of those things that people will always fight about.
