Dr Beulah Pretorius holds an MSc in Biochemistry and a PhD in human nutrition. She is employed as a research consultant at the Department of Animal and Wildlife Sciences and researcher of the Institute of Food, Nutrition and Well-being at the University of Pretoria. She is a member of the South African Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses, the South African Consultative Working Group on Micronutrient Control Interventions, as well as, the Technical Working Group on Food Based Dietary Guidelines. Her research interest is on human nutrition, food composition and nutrient bioavailability.
