An eBay spokesperson told CNBC Wednesday that the company plans to cut about 1,000 jobs, roughly 9% of its workforce, in a second layoff round this year.
The spokesperson said the reductions are intended to direct eBay toward its main business goals. eBay said it would continue hiring for roles linked to its strategy.
The planned cuts follow a February reduction of about 800 jobs, or 6% of the workforce. CNBC reported eBay had roughly 12,300 employees at the end of 2025.
CNBC also reported that eBay has reduced its headcount over recent years while increasing spending on artificial intelligence. CNBC reported that eBay shares were about 1% higher in trading Wednesday morning, U.S. Eastern Time.
