‘Narcos’ season 3 is set to feature new cast members Michael Stahl-David, Matt Whelan, and Kerry Bishé alongside returning actor Pedro Pascal. It remains unconfirmed whether Boyd Holbrook will be returning to play agent Steve Murphy in Netflix’s crime-thriller and biographical web television series.
According to /Film, Michael Stahl-David has been cast to play Chris Feistl. Chris is a young and straight-edged American DEA agent who went after an assignment to Colombia as the drug trade shifts to the Cali Cartel’s rise as the new drug kingpins following Pablo Escobar's (Wagner Moura) death. Stahl-David is best known for his role as Sean Donnelly on NBC’s drama series ‘The Black Donnellys’ as well as his lead role in found-footage monster horror film ‘Cloverfield’.
New Zealand actor Matt Whelan has also been cast as series regular. He is set to play Stahl-David’s partner Daniel Van Ness. Whelan is best known for his role as Brad Caulfield in the New Zealand comedy-drama television series ‘Go Girls.’
In addition to Stahl-David and Whelan, Kerry Bishé of ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ fame has also been cast for the incoming season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bishé will play an American woman named Christina, whose Colombian husband is involved in the cartel. Christina asks for the U.S. Embassy’s help in getting away from him.
Bishé is also known for her work on ABC’s medical sitcom ‘Scrubs’ and also starred in the 2012 biographical drama film ‘Argo’, directed by Ben Affleck.
It was previously reported that Pedro Pascal will be returning to play DEA agent Javier Peña as revealed by newly unveiled season 3 photographs. In the official photograph, Peña is on a podium with the seal of United States America behind presumably making a statement following the death of the notorious Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar.
According to The Independent, it is yet to be confirmed whether Boyd Holbrook will be returning to reprise his role as DEA agent Steve Murphy. Holbrook was first introduced in the series in season 1 and was tasked with bringing down the Medellin cartel together with his partner Peña.
‘Narcos’ is a crime-thriller and biographical web television series scheduled to return to Netflix sometime next year. It was created by Chris Brancato, Carlo Bernard, and Doug Miro. Netflix renewed the series for a third and fourth season last September 6, 2016.
