Peso remains mute after the final Presidential debate

Since Donald Trump visited Mexico, it has been a disaster for the Mexican government as they failed to assert that the Mexican government won’t be paying for the Trump wall. Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump suggested a strong border or wall on the southern border, which would be paid by Mexico. As polls suggested gains for Mr. Trump in September, the peso declined to almost 20 per dollar. Peso has been a gauge for investor sentiment towards the US election.

After the first debate, which was perceivably won by Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, peso started gaining back some lost grounds. As the polls improved in favor of Hillary, peso’s gains solidified.

Today, after the final debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, the peso is relatively mute, which suggests that the exchange rate would closely be following the poll numbers, which are currently in favor of Hillary.

The peso is, however, marginally weaker; a quarter percent, suggesting the Donald Trump may have won the final debate but unless that gets reflected in polls, we suspect that the peso would be moving within a range of 18 to 20. The peso is currently trading at 18.56 per dollar.

About the debate, with so much of dirt throwing by both the candidates, it is very difficult to determine, who has actually won.
