Canada in Perspective is a newsmagazine series that investigates current issues in society and their impact on Canadians of all abilities and backgrounds. The documentary style program is hosted by veteran broadcaster Anna-Karina Tabuñar and each episode features two guests who analyze the issues and present their personal experiences and outlooks. Canada in Perspective also explores diversity focused topics across the country with a series of in field interviews and segments.
Canada in Perspective is produced for AMI-tv by Varner Productions Limited. Season four highlighted a variety of compelling topics with a focus on inclusion and accessibility including: how evacuation plans for people living with disabilities have changed since the 2013 Alberta flood, how advances in implant technology are changing the lives of people with vision loss, how community groups are helping to resettle refugees living with disabilities, and how people with disabilities are represented in film and television, to name a few.
"We are honoured to receive this highly prestigious award," says David Errington, President and CEO. "This is a true testament to the commitment from everyone at AMI, as well as the team at Varner Productions, to exploring the issues that affect Canadians of all abilities, cultures and environments. Stories that are not often told yet are instrumental to the diverse composition of communities across the nation."
Canada in Perspective will return to AMI-tv for season five in June. Past episodes are available to watch online with the AMI-player. To learn more about AMI and its programming and initiatives please visit AMI.ca.
