“Alaskan Bush People” star Gabe Brown shocked many fans when he recently revealed that he was inflicted with a serious disease that can be fatal if left untreated. He shared that it left him bedridden for a couple of weeks and it was so bad that he even thought he would never recover from it again.
Gabe went on to say that he kept his condition a secret and even now, he would not let people know when exactly he got sick. Last week, the 28-year-old reality star spoke with Radar Online and it was then when he admitted that he was previously diagnosed with having a streptococcal virus or strep throat.
In an exclusive interview, the “Alaskan Bush People” mainstay said, “I was down for a while. It got pretty bad and I was bedridden for weeks.” He added, “I could barely make it ten feet without having to lie back down and there was a point where I thought that I might be like that forever!”
Gabe Lived in Isolation
Moreover, Gabe narrated that he was forced to live in isolation when he was sick because he was also afraid of infecting his mother, Ami Brown, who is also battling a deadly disease. As everyone already knows, the Brown matriarch has cancer of the lungs. He does not want his brothers and sisters to have the disease too so he stayed away from them until he was sure he recovered.
How Is He Today?
The fourth son in “Alaskan Bush People” relayed that he lost a lot of his physique but was thankful that he got better. He further said that with the new environment and home, he hopes to regain his strength and build.
“I am sure that living on the new property will help me get a lot of that back," he told Radar. “There is so much hard work to do on the property that it has helped me get strong again.”
Gabe Brown is referring to their new 400-acre property in Washington. The “Alaskan Bush People” family did not build a house there but they will be taking shelter like they always did when they were still in the Alaskan forest, People reported.
But for Ami Brown’s safety, they installed a trailer where she will be staying. The family also built a deck in front of the trailer so that their mother will not have a hard time.
“Alaskan Bush People” premiered on Aug. 19 on Discovery Channel.
