ROCKVILLE, Maryland, March 02, 2018 -- The American Kidney Fund (AKF), the nation’s leading nonprofit working on behalf of the 30 million Americans living with kidney disease, today added five new members to its national board of trustees:

- Michael W. Flood, managing director and head of private equity of Northleaf Capital Partners in Toronto
- Richard T. Miller, M.D., lead thoracic surgeon and physician-in-chief, Surgery Care Center at Southcoast Hospitals Group in New Bedford, Massachusetts
- Silas P. Norman, M.D., M.P.H., clinical associate professor of internal medicine, Division of Nephrology, University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor
- Lisa A. Robin, chief advocacy officer for the Federation of State Medical Boards in Washington, DC
- Michael R. Vaughan, M.D., director of medical specialties, and practice chief of nephrology at Kaiser Permanente Washington in the Pacific Northwest.
Chaired by 35-year kidney transplant recipient Robert M. Tarola, CPA, CGMA, AKF’s independent, volunteer board is a group of individuals with a broad range of professional backgrounds and personal experiences with kidney disease.
