“Avatar 2” is one of the most-awaited films and although it was a long time coming, the wait will be worth it as James Cameron promised amazing visuals and extraordinary realistic set. It is widely known by now that the second sequel of the film will feature underwater scenes and it was said that it would be better than “Aquaman” that also filmed many under the sea scenarios.
Now, in his interview with Yahoo, James Cameron shared that while he likes “Aquaman,” he did not direct it because the approach that was used in the filming of the underwater sequences made them looked unreal. On the other hand, in his “Avatar 2” sequel, he worked hard to capture realism. He said that he spent thousands of hours below the sea to study and present what life looks like underwater.
In any case, James Cameron also confirmed that the leaked title of “Avatar 2” and the following four sequels after that are correct. As mentioned on BBC, the titles are “Avatar: The Way Of Water,” “Avatar: The Seed Bearer,” “Avatar: The Tulkun Rider” and “Avatar: The Quest for Eywa.”
“I can neither confirm nor deny,” Cameron told Entertainment Tonight. “All right, here’s what I’ll tell ya. Those titles are among titles that are in consideration. And no final decisions have been made yet.”
Meanwhile, filming for “Avatar 2” is already over. The third installment is done as well, and the cast and crew are now simultaneously filming the 4th and 5th franchise. There are reports that the shoot for these sequels previously wrapped up, but this is not true. The production is ongoing, and it will probably go on until next year or beyond.
James Cameron’s “Avatar 2” is set to hit the theaters on Dec. 18, 2020, with the third installment confirmed for Dec. 17, 2021 premiere.
