'Bates Motel' Season 4 Episode 2 Recap: Norman gets into Pineview

Another mind boggling episode was dished out in this week’s episode of the hit TV series ‘Bates Motel’. This time, Norman’s condition just keeps getting worse and his mother Norma, who was oblivious and in denial with her son’s condition, will finally come to her senses and finally do something about it. So here is a recap of episode 2 titled “Goodnight”, Mother”.

The episode circled around Norman’s even worse condition. He was seen killing off Audrey while he was donning and acting like his own mother Norma. After the gruel some scene, he then blacked out and couldn’t remember anything that had happened. He woke up afterwards with his mother suspicious of Norman as she saw him all passed out with the lock broken off.

Norman then stares at himself in the mirror and tries to remember what happened. He remembers dragging Audrey's body downstairs and shoving it in the freezer. Thus, Norman thinks that Audrey is still alive and is kept inside the freezer. And then, Norman sees a vision of "Norma" sitting on the freezer.

The boy has gone way delusional and psychotic as he thinks that it was his mother and not him who killed Audrey and the others as well. So when Norma left, Norman opens the freezer and discovered that Audrey isn't there! Who cleaned up? Norma comes home to find her son looking in the freezer. He accuses her of killing Audrey. He can't tell the difference between his visions of "Norma" and his real memories.

Norma got scared and worried about his son and his worsening condition. Good thing, Romero called and asked how she is and how sorry he was for turning down her proposal. He presented her with a good news which surely eased the burden that Norma is feeling. He got Norman into Pineview AND he’s decided to marry her.

Romero presented a huge wad of money to the doctor at Pineview and bribed him into accepting Norman. And to ensure that Norman will get the attention that he needs, he will marry his mother and provide him the insurance that they need.

That good news is quashed when Romero tells her that they need Norman to sign consent papers because he’s eighteen and therefore legally an adult. Norma’s very aware that Norman won’t sign those papers, which are being sent to the motel office. Aware that Norman is in the office happily checking the guests in, Norma went and tried to get them but was not able to find it.

It turned out that Norman hid them and planned to do something sinister to stop his mother and he himself. But as soon as Norman was contemplating about death and suicide, Romero was able to interrupt him and took him. And miraculously, Norman signed the consent papers for him to get to Pineview.
