BOISE, Idaho, Feb. 19, 2016 -- Boise Cascade Company, headquartered in Boise, Idaho, has announced the addition of new tall wall design capability in the release of the next generation of BC CALC® analysis software for engineered wood products (EWP), available immediately and exclusively to Boise Cascade wholesale distributors and lumber dealers. Tall wall design in BC CALC® is a new feature providing analysis and specification capabilities for Boise Cascade EWP in common wall design profiles and is now being offered with BC CONNECT® -- a fully integrated package of cloud-based tools and applications helping distributors and dealers manage their EWP business.
ABILITY TO MODEL COMPLETE WALLS
Users can now utilize the new tall wall capability of BC CALC® to model wall systems, rather than using a collection of individual components. Whether the wall profile is rectangular or sloped, the tall wall capability of BC CALC® provides the tools to model the most common wall framing conditions.
ABILITY TO ADD OPENINGS
BC CALC® tall wall design also now allows users to input multiple openings and configurations in order to accurately model each wall profile. Unique conditions such as sloped and plank-orientation headers can be modeled to match specific wall details.
ABILITY TO ADD LOADS TO ACCURATELY DESIGN THE WALL
A variety of load types can now be added to each wall profile in order to accurately analyze the wall members for gravity and out-of-plane wind loads. Users can define the load type and placement on the wall and BC CALC® distributes the forces for proper design of each member.
ANALYSIS FOR EACH MEMBER IN THE WALL PROFILE
Following the load distribution and analysis, users see pass/fail results for all designed components, letting them quickly determine where adjustments may be needed. Selecting a member in the summary table or directly in the wall image gives additional options for viewing detailed analysis results. When the design is complete, a wall summary report can be created showing the wall profile, a summary of inputs and pass/fail results for critical members.
