Netflix has already canceled “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage” in the past couple of weeks and it seems that “Daredevil” may be in trouble as well. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Charlie Cox, the actor playing the titular character, admitted that he is not sure if there is going to be a “Daredevil” Season 4.
“At this point, I don't know if there's any intention of us doing more seasons. But were that to be the case, I think there's an interesting challenge for the writers, because I don't think we can do another season where Matt is so isolated, so alone, and so broken and angry,” Cox said.
Actually, there are still a lot of stories to tell in “Daredevil” Season 4. Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) may be out of the picture after the events of the third season, but Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter’s (Wilson Bethel) transformation into the villain Bullseye can easily become the focus of a new season.
Of course, it is quite possible that Netflix may axe “Daredevil” Season 4 because they don’t want to spend money on a show that will likely move to Disney’s planned streaming service in the future. That’s what people have been speculating after Netflix pulled the plug on “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage.” At the moment, fans may as well enjoy the latest season of the show because the future of the show is unclear.
In any case, Daredevil showrunner Erik Oleson is still holding on to hope that Netflix will pick up “Daredevil” Season 4. “I can tell you that I’m very hopeful to go do a Season 4,” Oleson said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “There has not yet been any kind of an official pick-up, but if there is, I’m very hopeful that I will be a part of it.”
