David Beckham and Victoria Beckham have lately been plagued by divorce rumors following the former’s recent statement regarding his marriage. The stars have enjoyed 19 years of marriage and have produced four children during their relationship.
In an interview with The Sunday Project (via Who), David Beckham said that he views marriage as “hard work.” After this, Victoria Beckham checked herself to a wellness retreat that specializes in healing the mind and body.
Both these incidents are speculated to be caused by a marital dispute that’s been brewing for years. However, Victoria Beckham denied that her relationship with her husband is teetering and dismissed the assumptions online as nothing more than rumors. Unfortunately, this doesn’t stop tabloids from publishing stories that are claiming otherwise, saying that David Beckham might feel different about where things stand. But taking the football legend’s comment in its entirety, it seems that his statement has more to do with the responsibility that comes with married life.
“You know your children, they want your time and they deserve your time, and we are hardworking and we feel that is the right way to bring up our children. To prove and to show them that actually, you have to work really hard to be successful,” David Beckham said. David and Victoria Beckham recently visited Australia to show support to Prince Harry’s Invictus Games, but the Spice Girls member was absent during the event.
Instead, Victoria Beckham opted to go shopping with her daughter, Harper, at Sydney’s boutique-lined Paddington. Her absence once again prompted the rumor mill to speculate on a marital dispute. However, it seems that the reason Victoria wasn’t by David Beckham’s side is the presence of paparazzi, Nine reported.
According to an unnamed source, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham were surprised by how “aggressive” the paparazzi are in Australia, adding that they don’t get this much attention in London. As such, Victoria reportedly didn’t want to give the gossip media more reason to hound them and decided to not attend the event.
Right now, it’s still unclear whether or not David Beckham and Victoria Beckham are indeed going through a marital turbulence. Only the family and those they consider confidantes know exactly what’s going on behind closed doors despite what the gossip mill is claiming.
