The “Dragon Ball Super — Universal Saga” has been on a hiatus for many months now. But several reports are hopeful that the drought would end with some good news next month about the “Dragon Ball Super” season 2.
Many fans refer to it as “Dragon Ball Super” season 2. But it is important to note that, technically, it is only the second installment of the “Universe Survival” saga, which is the sixth main arc of the entire anime series since it started in 2015.
The “Universal Saga” has been the longest-running part of the anime series with a total of 55 episodes before going on break after March 25’s installment. And once the series comes back for “Dragon Ball Super” season 2, fans are expecting the same saga as the storyline.
So the biggest question among fans is whether or not there will ever be a “Dragon Ball Super” season 2. So far, all clues point to a positive direction.
In many online discussions there are some people that tend to believe “Dragon Ball Super” season 2 will not be released ever. One fan even suggested that the “Dragon Ball” franchise will come up with an entirely new anime series.
However, statements from official people and Toei Animation all agree that there shall be a “Dragon Ball Super” season 2 in the near future. In a report last March, ComicBook shared a statement from the production company that referred to the upcoming “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” movie as some sort of a continuation arc as it happens in the same setting as the anime series.
Akira Toriyama himself has also hinted at the release of “Dragon Ball Super” season 2 in the coming months. In his own statement, the series creator wrote, “Now then, the animated version on TV will be ending for the time being.” His choice of words suggests that the anime series is simply on a hiatus and will return at a certain point.
As to when “Dragon Ball Super” season 2 is still a mystery. But reports are hopeful that the “Dragon Ball” panel during the Jump Festa convention next month will be the time when “Dragon Ball Super” season 2 is officially announced a release date window is confirmed.
