Last week, “Elden Ring” players found themselves being teleported underneath the game’s map where they faced a seemingly infinite death loop that led to the game crashing. Luckily, FromSoftware came up with a fix fairly quickly in a new update released on Wednesday.
The patch, officially called version 1.03.2, has started rolling out on all platforms where “Elden Ring” is available. As an extension of patch 1.03 that came out earlier this month, the latest update only contains a few (four, to be exact) items on the patch notes. The latest item on the list appears to address the frustrating exploit.
FromSoftware officially phrased it as fixing a bug in the “Elden Ring” online multiplayer that “allowed players to teleport others to incorrect map coordinates.” Simply put, hackers should no longer have the ability to send invaders beneath the map where they face their inevitable demise.
Thousands of “Elden Ring” fans learned about the exploit last week from the below above by the EldenRingUpdate on Twitter. The hack worked by crashing a player’s game. And when players restart “Elden Ring,” they will find themselves literally beneath the map, which is not officially part of the game, where they would continuously die. And when they restart the game, their PC saves have been corrupted and permanently unusable.
⚠️Elden Ring PSA for PC players⚠️

There's an exploit going around on PC where hackers will corrupt your save file while you're invaded.
First they will crash your game, and when you open it back up, your character will be constantly falling to their death... pic.twitter.com/8et3bl8T1I
The same page previously advised PC players to avoid playing “Elden Ring” online for a while to avoid having their game saves deleted due to the exploit. But before the Wednesday update, a temporary workaround has been shared on Reddit. While the temporary fix included instructions for consoles, some fans noted that they did not hear about the exploit being used against PlayStation and Xbox players.
Meanwhile, patch 1.03.2 also includes fixes for other bugs. FromSoftware said the update also addresses a bug that prevented some players from advancing NPC Nepheli Loux’s questline. That latest “Elden Ring” patch should also fix an issue that made playable characters die when they try to descend from a certain area in Bestial Sanctum and another bug that prevented players to use the Ash of War: Endure upgrade material.
