The year 2020 is almost over, and not a single new teaser for “Elden Ring” was released, unfortunately. However, that does not mean its development is moving along as it was reportedly completed even before the pandemic started.
‘Elden Ring’ launch in 2021 looks very possible, here’s why
There has not been any concrete update about the current status of “Elden Ring’s” development from developer FromSoftware for quite some time now. But that has not stopped fans from looking forward to the upcoming action RPG, and their wait might be over in 2021.
That appears to be one of the likely scenarios based on the information provided by video game journalist Federico Fossetti while talking with Twitch streamer Wesa recently. Per Reddit user KamCaminin’s translation of some parts of the video, Fossetti claimed that the development phase of “Elden Ring” was completed before the COVID-19 pandemic started. That likely means the game has been completed for several months now.
However, FromSoftware still suffered some delays since the developer still has to polish “Elden Ring” before it can be released. This part of the game’s production was the one affected by the pandemic, according to Fossetti. He added that the game could have been out between last October and November, which is interesting because Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed in November that he has “played quite a bit” of the upcoming game.
What does this mean for the release date window of “Elden Ring”? It can be recalled that the developer previously assured fans that the game’s production is still in the works. Just this Wednesday, FromSoftware’s Yasuhiro Kitao tweeted, “By virtue of those who play our games and continue to hold us to a high standard, we can forge ahead with development undaunted and highly motivated.” With these positive messages about the status of the game’s development, it is likely for “Elden Ring” to be finally released in 2021.
Our sincerest thanks go out to everyone who voted for Elden Ring at TGA, and to all of you who continue to support us. By virtue of those who play our games and continue to hold us to a high standard, we can forge ahead with development undaunted and highly motivated. Thank you.

New ‘Elden Ring’ trailer in early 2021?
The fanbase awaiting the release of “Elden Ring” has been very patient and eager to hear more about it simply because not much has been shown of its gameplay and story. Ironically, the title won The Game Awards 2020’s most anticipated game award, but no new trailer was released in the event earlier this month.
This has left fans to keep hoping that upcoming gaming conventions in 2021 would paint a better picture. So it is not surprising that there are already speculations of a new “Elden Ring” teaser possibly presented at the Taipei Game Show in January 2021.
