There are many things that can be taken from the fact that “Elementary” Season 7 will be the final season of the “Sherlock Holmes” TV program. One is the fact that its constant comparison with the UK adaptation “Sherlock” has made its rating non-stellar, to put it nicely. However, it could also signal the end of the trend involving the iconic fictional character.
As OtakuKart reports, fans might have been quite disappointed to know that “Elementary” Season 7 would be the last in the series. However, this was hardly unexpected, especially considering that its numbers have not been doing well. In fact, the show enjoyed considerably less attention and critical acclaim than its Benedict Cumberbatch-led counterpart.
Even so, the news that “Elementary” Season 7 marks the series’ end still saddens many fans. Unfortunately, there is no comfort to be found from the show itself, with the folks behind it seemingly resolved to keep a cold distance between the fans and them. This is made clear by the fact that there is hardly any recent news about the show’s final season.
As it stands, among the few information known about the show is that it will feature a new villain named Odin Reichenbach (James Frain). “Elementary” Season 7 will also see a time jump that might have been substantial enough to involve Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lucy Liu) being apart from each other. Then there are the main cast members returning for the final season.
Other than those tidbits, nothing else has been released, which is hardly surprising. As for when “Elementary” Season 7 might be dropping, among the top contenders for the premiere period is April of this year. This is usually when the series airs and it has supposedly been in production for quite some time. A surprise premiere would certainly make for an interesting twist.
