It seems dropping albums and songs out of nowhere is becoming a trend among artists, with Eminem doing exactly this with his newest project called “Kamikaze.” It’s basically a collection of his thoughts and emotions on what he went through in 2017. Spoiler alert: It did not go well for him. It seems his latest album will be following his usual rate, however, with “Kamikaze” set to hit no. 1 soon.
For some context, the "Revival" album that Eminem released last year was very poorly received, Fast Company reports. Many reviewers were of the opinion that it didn’t measure up to the usual standards set by the rapper, and he did not like those comments at all. This is reflected in the songs included in “Kamikaze.”
Suffice it to say, there’s a reason why the album is titled the way it is. This collection is full of lyrics that are bound to make the rapper lose some fans and face backlash among the review community. Then again, if he cared about such things, he would not be using the language that he does. So perhaps Eminem is just at the point where he has become less concerned about the opinion of those around him.
On that note, it seems this isn’t stopping the album from topping charts. “Kamikaze” seems on track to reach the top spot on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, Billboard reports. Forbes also notes that the album is seeing plenty of success in the U.K., so Eminem apparently has plenty of fans to spare.
The most noticeable change in his new album, however, is how the rapper is no longer being as political as he was last year. Eminem clearly enraged many of his fans who supported Donald Trump because there was almost no mention of the controversial president in his latest work.
