An anonymous leaker who correctly predicted significant details of PlayStation 5 specs has also shared some possible information about “GTA 6.” For one, it is being speculated that the much-awaited sequel might bring back Vice City and Liberty City.
The source of the leak was originally posted on the Pastebin platform. One of its final lines was dedicated to “GTA 6”-related information. Part of it reads, “Been hearing rumors about Miami and New York, so 2 big cities, but I’m not sure if that’s 100% true.”
Fans of the video game series know that Rockstar Games has been drawing inspirations from real-life cities in building its gameplay maps. However, they use fictional names for it in the actual release. So if the rumors would tally in the future that Miami and New York City are some of the “GTA 6” locations, that could mean that Vice City and Liberty City are coming back.
This is quite different from what has been repeatedly reported that “GTA 6” would introduce a new gameplay feature that would allow players to travel between North America and South America. It is linked to the rumor that the upcoming game is given the internal codename “Project Americas.”
The “GTA 6” release date window has not been announced, but the same leak reports it is “most probably” set in holiday 2020. At that time, it is also rumored that PlayStation 5 would already hit the stores and Sony is negotiating to make “GTA 6” temporarily exclusive to the next-generation console.
While several details included in the leaked information have already been confirmed, it is still best to take these “GTA 6” reports with a pinch of salt. A late 2020 release date would seem too early considering Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser’s statement in October 2018. “It’s really unclear what we would even do with it, let alone how upset people would get with whatever we did,” Houser told the British GQ when asked about “GTA 6.”
