“Jane the Virgin” season 5 has been particularly controversial, with the fact that it is confirmed as the show's last season standing out amongst the list of reasons. But “Jane the Virgin” season 5 also hallmarks the return of Brett Dier's Michael Cordero Jr. from the dead, which may excite certain fans despite the show's impending end. For those doubting Dier's long-term return to the series, the show's own stars have something on social media to put minds at ease.
Gina Rodriguez, Brett Dier, and Justin Baldoni recently posted similar photos on their Instagram pages, teasing fans about the return of the Jane-Michael-Rafael love triangle for “Jane the Virgin” season 5.
While definitely hype-able pictures that can help fans get through the drought until “Jane the Virgin” season 5 has been released, the excitement could be dampened by news about the upcoming installment's potential future.
Fans may have a long wait ahead of them for “Jane the Virgin” season 5. In a recent August interview with The Huffington Post, Gina Rodriguez mentioned that she was still getting ready to direct the upcoming installment's first episode. The start of production has not been announced on any of the show's social media platforms as well. Should production for “Jane The Virgin” season 5 start sometime in September, fans won't be able to expect the beloved series to catch up to a fall 2018 premiere.
There is a possibility that “Jane the Virgin” season 5 returns during the winter season in January 2019 if the show's last season will not be featuring a full season's worth of episodes. But fans of the show who want to keep their expectations in check should give the series a bit more leeway before it airs its last premiere episode. Hopefully, viewers can look forward to “Jane the Virgin” season 5 returning sometime in late 2019 or early 2020.
