“Jane the Virgin” Season 5 is a long way off as the cast and crew are hard at work polishing the final installment of the comedy-drama series. Show creator Jennie Snyder Urman recently said that the upcoming season is some of their best work yet, Deadline reported.
“We’re very proud of the episodes,” Urman said. “I pitched the way it’s going to end when I pitched the show. We’re on the path that was the story I felt like I wanted to tell, so it’s exciting because we’re getting to that ending.” Naturally, the showrunners are keeping everything under wraps so as to avoid spoiling the finale of “Jane the Virgin” Season 5.
The previous installment saw a jaw-dropping final episode when it was revealed that Michael (Brett Dier) is actually alive. While this is a classic telenovela trope, the writers did an incredible job of using the literary technique to full effect. Following the reveal, fans of the series have been arguing back and forth whether or not Jane (Gina Rodriguez) should choose Michael over Rafael (Justin Baldoni). “Jane the Virgin” Season 5 certainly has a lot of loose ends to cover with this plot twist being the biggest of them.
It can be recalled that Michael’s death wasn’t done vaguely but occurred in a room full of people. It would be difficult for writers to explain how exactly did the police officer survived his ordeal and why he waited years before revealing he was alive. Co-producer Chantelle Wells assures fans that “Jane the Virgin” Season 5 will be everything they’re hoping for and more.
There’s also the fact that if Michael truly is alive, then Jane is still technically married. This means that if he ever chooses Michael, he’ll likely going to get a divorce in “Jane the Virgin” Season 5.
Of course, there are fans out there who are hoping that Jane actually chooses Michael since their chemistry is far more genuine compared to Raf. After all, it was Michael who stood by Jane’s side when she faced all those obstacles in previous installments and even said his vows in Spanish. As for when “Jane the Virgin” Season 5 will return, CW announced that it will air on March 2019.
