Meghan Markle’s family rift continues, and things became much worse after she announced her decision to quit the royal family.
Shortly after, her half-sister, Samantha Markle, and her estranged dad, Thomas Markle Sr., sat down for their respective interviews. Samantha, who has been bound by a wheelchair for years, claimed to know the motivation behind the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell exit.
During her interview with on KIIS FM this week, she claimed that Markle became a little bit too stressed after some of her actions elicited angry and negative responses from royal fans. For instance, Markle reportedly attended a lavish baby shower last year.
When asked if she thinks she will ever reconcile with the Duchess of Sussex, Samantha said that it’s unlikely. After all, their relationship has not only been estranged but also strained.
“I didn't feel that's possible given that there was so much malice, there was so much attacking when it could have been nipped in the bud and we could be playing footsies under the table,” she said.
But at the end of the day, Samantha hopes that Markle would have a change of heart and patch things up with their dad. According to her, Thomas was the one that supported Markle’s education and lifestyle for most of her life.
Despite Thomas and Markle’s strained relationship, the former lighting director still sided with his daughter. While speaking with Fox in the upcoming special “Harry & Meghan: The Royals In Crisis,” the 74-year-old called Prince Harry insecure.
“I think that Harry is a very insecure man and I think that's being shifted on to my daughter. I think she winds up mothering him,” he said.
It is unclear where Thomas’s statement came from because he has never met the Duke of Sussex in person. And despite Thomas’s criticisms, he also said that he hopes his daughter and Prince Harry would stay together until the end.
“I hope that they stay together and love each other and take care of their child, my grandson Even if I never see them again, I wish them the very best. I still love them,” he said.
