Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are among those that have lost their homes during the Woosley Fire. This catastrophe is considered unprecedented by firefighters and is now the worst recorded wildfire disaster in the history of California, Independent reported.
So far, the fire has already claimed 48 people with 200 more are still unaccounted for. Reports are coming in that some were even burned alive inside their car as they tried to flee the affected area. Following the incident, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth announced they’re donating $500,000 to help those who are affected and to prevent such catastrophe from occurring in the future.
Although the Woolsey Fire has already damaged thousands of structures, experts are saying that it’s threatening 57,000 more as firefighters are still trying to put an end to the inferno. Miley Cyrus took to Tweeter to express her gratitude at having escaped the flames, adding that she’s fortunate to be safe along with “the love of her life” and their beloved animals. Liam Hemsworth has the same sentiment and said that this catastrophe will only strengthen the resolve of those who are affected, Rolling Stone reported.
People who have been displaced by the fire are finding difficulty in acquiring temporary shelter, with some of them settling in makeshift evacuation tens in Walmart parking lots. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s donations will be allocated to those affected families and more.
A representative of the celebrity couple released a statement that the stars want to give back to the community that has provided them with so many memorable moments. “These funds will be used for those in financial need, emergency relief assistance, community rebuilding, wildfire prevention, and climate change resilience,” the statement said. Hopefully, more celebrities will mirror Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s generosity and donate to those who have been displaced by the flames.
