The end-of-January short interest represents 4.06 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 5.31 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 866 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 853,597,571 shares at the end of the settlement date of January 31, 2018 compared with 852,639,761 shares in 860 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.17 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.39.
In summary, short interest in all 3,214 Nasdaq® securities totaled 7,905,047,487 shares at the January 31, 2018 settlement date, compared with 3,212 issues and 8,043,640,340 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 3.71 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.70 days for the previous reporting period.
